Trail work and camping weekend at AG Ranch in Shawnee August 4 – 6

RSVP needed by July 26 to Kitty

All members, friends, young adults, and kids are invited to join us.

We will be doing work on or near the AG and Brookside trails. This may involve making the new trail or fixing it in certain areas. FRBCH provides the meals and our skills to assist in the learning process, while enjoying the outdoor life and giving back by volunteering. We bring our horses to the event. The horses are for our own use, not the kids, but the kids have been told that they can assist in the daily care of the horses if you wish, and are respectful of our conditions for them being around our horses. In the past many members have given “pony rides” when we are in camp if they feel confident their horses are calm enough for this. Don’t worry – it is not required or expected for you to “give pony rides”, this is just for those who like to do this. The kids do not come expecting to ride the horses.

This location is about 1 hour from Denver. You are welcome to come for the day or for a couple of hours.

If we do not have a volunteer to bring the porta-potty trailer, we will coordinate bringing some of our kitchen items and canopies. If anyone has some tools for working on the trail, please bring them.

Particulars: Kids and chaperons arrive Friday any time after 11:00am and leave Sunday. FRBCH provides the meals for this event. Bring your own beverages. We will have water, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, milk. You will need your camping gear, working gloves, hat, long pants, high top boots or comfortable hiking shoes, water bottle, and backpack. Bring the usual stuff for your horse such as feed and water, haybags, and buckets. This is National Forest land so regulations call for certified weed free hay. Bring a highline, horse pen, etc. to contain your horse, manure fork to clean up after your horse when leaving. Remember, we practice “Leave No Trace” camping at all our campouts. Leave the area looking as good as or better than when we arrived.
