$10 Daily Pass or CO. Parks Pass. FRBCH members are welcome to invite guests! Park by the Nature Center/round pen/playground. Trail is an 8.8 mile loop around the lake and is wide, mostly flat with packed dirt and loose gravel. Expect strollers, hikers and bikes. There are bridges that you may choose to get off and walk across, and a portion of the trail runs close to active railroad tracks. Please consider whether this is a good fit for your horse, the only option is to turn around early on the trail.

We are having a special membership meeting on Saturday, May 30, at Saddle Up Colorado’s location in Gilcrest, Colorado. Danna Golden, Owner of Saddle Up Colorado, will be doing a free saddle fitting, a $100 value, for 2 lucky FRBCH members whose names are drawn from the sign-up list. The rest of us will have the opportunity to learn from Danna and perhaps win some gift certificates to use for purchases of merchandize or toward future saddle fittings from the Saddle Up store. If you win a saddle fitting, you will be contacted by FRBCH Board and receive information about bringing your horse and saddle to the meeting in Gilcrest. Everyone, bring your questions and get ready to learn a wealth of information about how saddle fitting affects your horse’s performance and comfort. ENTER THE PARK FROM MORRISON ROAD, TAKE 1ST RIGHT, FOLLOW THE ROAD PAST THE LAKE AND STABLES. TURN LEFT AT THE STABLES. YOU’LL SEE THE HORSE ARENA AND TRAILER PARKING ON THE LEFT. THE MOUNT CARBON LOOP TRAIL IS 6.7 MILES. FOOTING INCLUDES SAND, GRAVEL, SINGLE TRACK AND SHORT CEMENT SECTIONS. EXPECT DOGS, HIKERS, BIKES AND GOLFERS. THERE ARE A COUPLE OF CREEK CROSSINGS. 4:00 PM BRIEF PRESENTATION ABOUT FRBCH. READY TO RIDE 5:00 PM. MOCKTAILS AND SNACKS TO SHARE FOLLOWING THE RIDE. Connie Flores, owner of 17 Hands Equine Nutrition, began studying equine nutrition out of a desire to provide the best life possible for her horse. She became a certified equine nutrition advisor so she could use her experience to help others save time and money by offering an optimized feeding program for their horses. Connie provides nutritional consultations with a whole horse approach as well as hay testing and analysis. She will be speaking on metabolic equines, forage choices, ulcer prevention and electrolytes to support overall horse health.

APPROXIMATELY 7-9 MILE LOOP OF SOFT SANDY FOOTING, SHOES NOT REQUIRED. THERE ARE RATTLESNAKES IN THE AREA ALTHOUGH NOT SEEN OFTEN. HEAVILY VISITED BY HIKERS, EQUISTRIANS, BIKERS AND DOGS. READY TO RIDE 10:00AM. RIDE FOLLOWED BY A BRIEF PRESENTATION ABOUT FRBCH AND “LAND MANAGEMENT 101” ALONG WITH A CHILI POTLUCK.
